Villa Basement Refurbishment, Private Residence, Marbella Spain

VISION: From Basement to Boutique Apartment

We took an unused villa basement and turned it into a cozy, independent living space, designed for comfort and style. Our mission was to create a warm, welcoming atmosphere, and we played with soft, earthy tones to set the mood. Every detail was carefully planned — from the lighting, which was meticulously designed by our incredible lighting team, to the clever layout that maximizes space and functionality. The process was technically complex, as we had to work around existing structures, but it was worth every effort. The result is a private, self-sufficient apartment with its own gym, perfect for the client who value both relaxation and an active lifestyle

INSPIRATION AND STYLE: Walnut and travertine love

Given that the basement has limited natural light, with just one large window door as the main source, our goal was to brighten the space. We achieved this by using light lacquered wood, which helped to reflect and diffuse the available light, creating a more open and airy feel. The interplay of the walnut’s warmth with the travertine’s earthy texture adds depth and contrast, while the pale oak parquet enhances the sense of spaciousness. The result is a cohesive, elegant design that feels both modern and timeless, bringing light and sophistication to a once-dark and underutilized area.
